今天為各位介紹「I have another brother other than Tom.」
other than 是一個片語，指「除了....之外」
than 後面接名詞或名詞子句~
所以這句是說「除了Tom之外，我還有另一個兄弟。」
照樣照句「I learn Korean other than Japanese.」
(除了日文之外，我還學了韓文)
我們也可以這樣說
「Everything was OK other than that I broke up with my BF.」
(每件事都很好，除了我跟我男友分手這件事之外。)
或是「Everyone went home other than me.」
(除了我之外，每個人都回家了。)
other than 的用法跟 besides 很像
甚至在大部份的句子都能交換使用

Everything was OK other than that I broke up with my BF. 這句可改成 Everything was OK other than I broke up with my BF. 嗎?
other than means "in addition to", "besides" In the following two sentences, I would use "except" instead. "Everything was OK other than that I broke up with my BF." --> "Everything was O.K. except that I broke up with my BF." (每件事都很好，除了我跟我男友分手這件事之外。) "Broke up with BF" is considered good. "Everyone went home other than me." --> "Everyone went home except me." (除了我之外，每個人都回家了。) Only I stayed here while others went home. To answer the question dated 2016/01/11: No. I would use "that" before a clause.
